EVE Scam Guide - Chapter 4.1 - Corporate Theft

Corporate Theft is the act of stealing from a corporation. In most cases, a player earns their way up the ranks of the corporation, until they're at a point where they have access to valuable assets. At this point, station hangars are cleared out, ships stolen from POSes, and wallet divisons emptied.

Corporate Theft is something that often requires building up to. Although the the greatest financial gains will come from getting to the top of the corporation and stealing all of their assets, there are many smaller thefts that can take place during the process.

If the corporation has assets that are available for free to the members, there are many opportunities to small things in small enough quantities that will go unnoticed. Taking full advantage of all of the perks that the corporation offers will also allow you to gain small amounts of ISK over time.

The key to a good corporate theft is first finding a corporation that actually has valuable assets. If you join the corporation with honest intentions, participate in activities, and befriend the regulars, you will find yourself progressing through the ranks very quickly.

If you are planning on stealing from a corporation, try to join the corporation with the intent of actually being a genuine member for awhile. To continue bringing in ISK, either make use of alts on the side or discreetly scam other players in the meantime. Depending on the rules of your corporation, you might compromise your membership if you're caught scamming. Keep it quiet while building reputation in the corporation.

The goal is to make as best use of the corporation's perks as possible. It's very likely that a corporation that has wealth is willing to help its newer players out. It's also likely that active members in the corporation will make additional effort to welcome you, which means possibly lending you ISK if you happen to ask for it. Make as much use out of these perks during the whole process, it will really add up.

Plan on being with the corporation for awhile. Smaller corporations might not mind putting you in positions of power earlier on, but it might not be worth your time if the corp never has any growth. A larger corporation is going to be much tighter about who becomes directors and gains access to valuable assets. You will have to make a pretty serious effort to contribute and participate to show you're capable of taking on those kinds of roles in the corporation.

This is made easiest by actually joining a corporation that you think you might enjoy spending time with. Then your actual in game time is doing something fun with a group of individuals that have similar interest to you. This makes the process of befriending the corporation incredibly effortless, as you're simply logging in and playing because it's fun.

As noted before, many assets can be stolen from a corporation long before you have any roles. For example, let's say that your corporation has a POS. Perhaps the corporation uses the POS as a base for 0.0 ratting, or similar purposes. Very often, players leave their ships inside the forcefield of a POS, as opposed to storing them in ship hangar arrays. This can be for a multitude of reasons, but generally as a result of laziness. If a player leaves their ratting battleship inside the forcefield, you can effortlessly take control of it and claim it as yours.

Obviously, if you just joined the corporation, and just started using the POS, it would be very clear to the other members that you stole the ship. Use your best intuition on when to actually steal noticeable assets from the corporation. If you just want to get away with a few ratting battleships, it should be no problem to log on when the rest of the corporation is asleep and clear out an entire POS.

Ideally, you'll want to keep any theft very minimal, during the process of gaining trust. Borrow and use ammo and tech 1 ships provided by the corporation. The end goal is to reach a point where you have roles in the corporation that allow you to do things such as unanchor POSes, take money from the various wallet divisions, and steal any other corporate assets from station hangars and so on.

Once you have gained these roles, plan to execute it all during a time when the corporation is less active, such as the middle of the night. It is in your best interest to be as discreet as possible, thus allowing you the largest haul.
